Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about hiring a househelp, nanny, caregiver or domestic worker through Fiftess Househelp Agency.

From vetting and interviews to placement fees, salaries and replacements, here are answers to the questions families frequently ask us.

Hiring & Vetting

How do I hire a househelp or nanny through Fiftess?

Tell us your location, household needs, number and ages of children, duties required, preferred arrangement (live-in or Dayburg/live-out), and salary budget.

We will shortlist suitable candidates for you to review and interview before making your final choice.

How does Fiftess vet househelps and nannies?

Our vetting process includes original ID verification, physical interviews, work-experience assessment, reference and background checks, communication assessment, biometric fingerprint verification and suitability screening.

Police Clearance can also be requested where required.

Can I interview candidates before hiring?

Yes. We encourage every client to interview shortlisted candidates before confirming a placement.

This gives you an opportunity to discuss experience, childcare skills, cooking, household duties, communication, salary expectations and your family's specific requirements.

How quickly can I get a househelp or nanny?

We maintain a pool of vetted candidates ready for placement. Depending on your requirements and candidate availability, some placements can be completed within 24 hours.

Specialized requirements may take longer because we focus on finding a suitable match—not simply the first available candidate.

Fees & Salaries

How much does it cost to hire through Fiftess?

Our current placement fees are:

Standard Placement — KSh 4,000
Premium Placement — KSh 8,000

The fee covers candidate sourcing, vetting, matching, interview coordination and placement support.

Is part of the placement fee recoverable?

Yes. Under the applicable placement terms, the employer may recover KSh 2,000 for a Standard placement or KSh 4,000 for a Premium placement from the worker's salary.

Our placement team explains the applicable terms before you confirm the placement.

What is the difference between Standard and Premium candidates?

Standard candidates are vetted based on their identity, experience, references, communication and suitability for the position.

Premium candidates have relevant professional qualifications or formal training in areas such as ECDE, childcare, caregiving/CNA, housekeeping, hospitality, catering or related fields.

How much should I pay a househelp or nanny in Kenya?

Salary depends on experience, duties, location, qualifications and whether the position is live-in or live-out.

As a general guide:

Standard Live-in: KSh 7,000–15,000+
Dayburg/Live-out: KSh 10,000–18,000+
Caregivers: KSh 18,000–30,000+
Premium/Certified Candidates: KSh 15,000–40,000+

The final salary should be agreed between the employer and candidate before employment begins.

Probation & Replacements

Is there a probation period?

Yes. Our placements include a 14-day probation period, allowing both the employer and worker to assess suitability, expectations and compatibility.

What happens if the candidate is not suitable?

Contact our placement team as soon as possible if you experience a genuine issue involving performance, conduct, suitability or compatibility.

We will review the situation and advise on the appropriate next step according to your placement terms.

Do you provide free replacements?

Yes. Qualifying placements are eligible for up to two free replacements, subject to our placement terms and conditions.

Our objective is not simply to make a placement, but to help you achieve a suitable and sustainable match.

Our Services

Do you provide live-in and Dayburg househelps?

Yes. We provide both live-in and Dayburg/live-out househelps and nannies.

For Dayburg placements, availability depends on your location, working hours, transport accessibility and salary budget.

Can I hire a caregiver through Fiftess?

Yes. We provide caregivers for elderly care, patient assistance, companionship, recovery support and other home-care needs.

Tell us the level of care required and whether you need a professionally qualified caregiver so we can shortlist suitable candidates.

What other domestic staff can I hire through Fiftess?

Depending on availability, we can assist with:

Househelps • Nannies • Premium Nannies • Caregivers • House Managers • Cooks/Chefs • Cleaners • Dayburg Workers • Male Domestic Workers

Tell us your requirements and our team will advise you on the most suitable category.

Does Fiftess train househelps and nannies?

Standard candidates are not necessarily trained by Fiftess. They are vetted and matched based on their existing experience, references and suitability.

Premium candidates have relevant formal training or professional qualifications.

Choosing the Right Candidate

How do I choose the right househelp or nanny?

A good placement involves more than finding someone who is available.

Consider the candidate's experience, character, communication, childcare ability, household skills, working preferences and compatibility with your family's routines and expectations.

Our placement team uses the information you provide to help identify candidates who are better aligned with your household.

Can I request specific skills or experience?

Yes. You can request candidates with experience in areas such as newborn care, toddlers, school-going children, elderly care, cooking, laundry, housekeeping, pet care or managing larger households.

You can also specify whether professional qualifications are required.
